Currently I am Using 3 emails i.e of Rediffmail, Yahoo and Gmail among them G-mail powerful email account that I have to date.

If you too have a bunch of email accounts with different email service provider nd would like to check all of your email in one place Gmail is your best bet.

Procedure :-

1) Click on “Settings”

2) Click on the Accounts and Import option.

3) Then click on “Import from another address”.

The first page asks “What account do you want to import from?“, enter in the email address you want to import your email from, not your gmail account as you are already logged into the account. Then click on next, which will take you to a page that asks you to enter your password. Again, enter in the password for the email account that you want to import, not your gmail account.

The next page asks you to “Select the import options for” the account in question. You can leave everything checked, one thing to take note of though is the option “Add label to all imported mail:”; if you leave that filled out as the computer did so you will notice that when you check your inbox there will be a folder with the name of the email address you are importing as an additional folder underneath your inbox. If you decide to change that option and type something in, you need to remember what you named the folder. It is easier just to leave it filled in with the default tag.

Click on “Start Import”, and Gmail will begin the process of importing the email. You will get a message that states “It may take several hours (sometimes up to 2 days) before you start to see imported messages.”, just click ok and close out of that window. As stated it can take up to two days for this to take effect. The only side effect I noticed from doing this is that one of folders set up in an account I imported was replenished with email that I have already read, which was strange, but I just deleted all of that email.

When everything is over and done with you will see a folder for each email address to the left.

If you enable saving your chat history in Gmail, your conversations from Google Talk are saved as standard emails. To make them stand out from the rest of messages, Gmail adds two labels: chat and chats.

If you want to search your chats, you just have to add label:chat to your query. If you want to search only your mail, exclude the chats by adding -label:chat.

Gmail has many other hidden labels that can make your life easier, so you don’t have to use the advanced search:

* label:inbox – search only your Inbox. It’s a good idea to keep your Inbox clean.

* label:star (label:starred) – search only your starred messages. You can use the star button like a bookmarking system. Star only important messages.

* label:draft (or label:drafts) – search only unfinished messages. Drafts could be used for storing notes or emails that must be sent later.

* label:sent (or label:sentmail, label:sent-mail, label:sent mail ) – search only sent mail. It may be useful to restrict your search only to messages you’ve sent, or only to messages you’ve received if you add a minus.

* label:all (or label:allmail, label:all-mail, label:all mail ) – search all your mail, including messages from Trash (label:trash) and Spam (label:spam).

* label:read and label:unread. Restrict your search only to read mail or unread mail. For example, to find all your sent messages that have unread replies, you can search for label:unread label:sent.

It’s nice that you can combine all these labels with user-defined labels in a query. To show results that have both label A and label B, just search for label:A label:B. To show results that have one of the labels A and B or both, just search for label:A OR label:B.

Update: Instead of label:A, you can just type l:A.

In this article, i am gonna show you how you can make use of search engine giant “Google” as a Hard disk drive where you can store you data without worrying about uploading single file at a time.

Downloading and installing GMail drive – make your online drive of your Gmail account
I’ve been in love with GMail Drive since the day I installed it and it is one application that I use daily. The program is written in Python is less than 200KB. It can be downloaded from the Softpedia.com. Click on the link and then select a mirror site for downloading GMail Drive installer zip file- check image below.

Once you have the installed zip file, extract it to a temporary directory and run the “Setup” file by double clicking on it.

The GMail Drive application installs on your system quickly and you should soon see the confirmation message with the copyright notice. Close this window.

Now open Windows Explorer and go to My Computer. You’ll find GMail Drive under “Other” in the folder listing on the left (if you have it turned on) – refer image below.

Before you can start transferring files to your Gmail account, you need to provide the login details to GMail Drive application. Click on “GMail Drive” in Windows Explorer OR try to drag-n-drop a test file from a local directory to the online drive. The program will display a login window. Clicking on the “More” button will show you additional options for logging to your Gmail account via the GMail Drive application – refer image below.

Using your online hard drive folder – your Gmail account

To use your Gmail account to store files, simply drag files from your computer and drop them on the “GMail Drive” folder you see in Windows Explorer. You’ll get a dialog box similar to one below. Depending on your internet connection speeds and the file size, the time taken to transfer the file from your local system to the online Gmail account will vary. You can use the same drag-n-drop functionality to download files from your Gmail account.

Here are two files that I’ve uploaded to my Gmail account.

Once your files have been uploaded, click on GMail Drive folder to confirm. The uploaded files arrive as email messages with the subject GMAILFS: /[THE-FILE_NAME] …

Final Note: As per the developer, GMail drive is an “experimental tool” but it works like a charm. Changes in the Gmail system may make the application non-functional in which case, the developer releases an updated version which you need to use.

If you like to abandon your Yahoo Mail account in favor of Gmail, here’s some good news. You can now move / copy all your old contacts and email messages from the Yahoo! inbox to your new Gmail address without having to worry about complex IMAP or POP3 configuration.

Gmail now offers a new import mails option under Settings -> Accounts and Import. Enter the username and password of Yahoo Mail account and all the messages will be copied to your Gmail account in the next few hours. Once the migration is over, any incoming email on your old Yahoo address will be auto-forward to your Gmail account for another month.

The reason why I stressed Yahoo! Mail here is because it was the only web email service that required users to upgrade to Mail! Plus for them to move their data out to another email provider. That however changed with today’s announcement on the Gmail blog.

The Import function is currently available in new Gmail accounts only (not Google Apps) but it will soon be available for all so if you are in a hurry, just set up another Gmail account and use Mail Fetcher to copy Yahoo mails from this new address to your old Gmail account.

There are so many sites offering email with unlimited features, offcourse one of the best one is Gmail.

They asked us to change our password frequently and we do it, But its not possible to remember everything in this busy airtight life..Now, of course, you remember the password you had last week, and even last month’s. But the current Gmail password? Who knows?

Gmail knows. But it won’t tell you.

To reset your forgotten Gmail password:

•Make sure you either
•have a secondary email address specified for your Gmail account or
•you have not logged into your Gmail account for 5 days.
•Follow the I cannot access my account link from the Gmail log-in page.
•Click I’ve forgotten my password.
•Type your Gmail user name (what precedes “@gmail.com” in your Gmail address) under Username:.
•Click Submit.
•Type the letters in the captcha into the field beneath the image.
•Click Submit.
•Depending on whether you have a secondary email address specified or not,
•open the Google Password Assistance message in your secondary email account and follow the password reset link in it or
•type the answer to your security question and click Submit.
•Enter the desired new password under both New password: and Re-enter password.
•Click Reset password.

If you have used your Gmail account in the past five days but have not specified a secondary email address, you’ll have to wait for these five days to pass.

No Secondary Address and Your Answer to the Security Question Does not Work?

Are you unable to reset your Gmail password, either through a secondary address or by answering your security question?

•Make sure you are trying to access the right account.
•Check the account name for misspellings.
•Does the security question sound familiar?
•Contact Google with as many details that allow them to identify you as the account holder as possible.
•Do not include what you presume to be the password, though.

Somebody Hacked Your Gmail Account?
If you believe somebody has hacked into your Gmail account — because you do not get the password reset email at the secondary address you specified but the five days never pass while you cannot log in to your account, for example —, you can contact Gmail using this structured form.

It is always a good idea to read and respond to all your incoming mails as soon as possible. However more often than not we do not manage to read all the messages due to time constraint. When you get the time to go through the messages the read and unread messages get mixed up and it becomes quite cumbersome to browse through the pages looking for the unread messages. Even then you run the risk of missing some important message.

As usual the engineers at Google have provided a really simple trick to get all the unread messages together so that you can go through them without any problem. Type one of the following search strings into gmail search box and hit enter.

1 label:unread in:inbox
2 label:unread label:inbox

Alternatively you may use the advanced search feature of gmail to see all the unread messages together.

Go to the gmail advanced search screen.

There is a drop down on the search box. Select the option ‘unread mail’ from the dropdown (see the dropdown)

Hit search and you shall have all the unread messages at one place.
